Hannah and Cole are taking bridals to a whole new level with their romantic shoot at Studio Elevn in Salt Lake! I love their personalities and the fact that it didn’t take them long to let their individuality shine through. I honestly didn’t know if I was going to get serious romance or their fun side. And Hannah, come on, what a BEAUTIFUL bride she is! I completely LOVED shooting at this location with this bride and groom!
Bridals capture the best of the two of you! Give me a holler to and schedule your shoot today!
He’s popped the question, (YAY!!!!) but now you’re left asking yourself, “What now?” “Where do I begin,” and “Who do I call first?” Well, I’m here to help you get a jumpstart on planning your big day and give you some direction on where to start.
Choose Your Team
First, your bridal party will be your biggest supporters so get your team together and stack it full of all of your favorite people; people that you love and trust to help you along your way. Having a strong team means being able to delegate responsibilities to individuals that will help relieve the stress that is sure to be present during the entire planning process.
Before you can move on with your plans, you have to know what your budget is so a good place to start, once you have you have your support team in place, is to talk to your fiancé and those involved to decide what you have to spend. This will help you know what you can live without and what you can’t.
Next, hire professionals for all of your wedding needs. Book your wedding planner. Book your wedding videographer and then find yourself a wedding photographer that will help you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera. Being a photographer myself, this is a BIG one! Everyone has that someone they know that “takes pictures” but we’re are talking about this BIGGEST. DAY. OF. YOUR. LIFE! Trust me, find someone that is professional and so you are guaranteed to have your best moments captured and every minute documented.
Pick a date
Pick a few different dates that will work for you and your fiancé and go from there. Be sure to be mindful of the time of year and what your family and friends will have going on in their lives’ so that everyone you want at your wedding will be able to attend without issue.
Choose those wedding colors. Your wedding is all about you and who you are. You want it to be reflection of your tastes and preferences so, although, current color trends may be beautiful, find something you know you will love. Stay true to your style. Starting early with a color scheme allows you to be on the lookout for decor or items for your wedding while you are in the planning process.
Lastly, work on that guest list. This can be one of the biggest projects in the beginning of the wedding planning process but once it’s done will give you an idea of what wedding venues will accommodate all of your family and friends. A good estimate of who will be attending will help you find the perfect place to hold your wedding/reception.
I hope you found these tips to be helpful! If you need anything or have additional questions, you know who to call!
Not only did Heather make a beautiful bride, she knows how to make being a bride look completely effortless. Her bridal session at the Utah State Capitol definitely showed off her confidence inside and out. Take a look and I’m sure you;ll see exactly what I mean. I LOVED seeing Heather’s personality shine through all of her photos.

Adding a bride and groom to the mix of history and architecture in Washington DC just makes me smile. With historic sites and monuments galore, who can say they saw their bride for the very first time right in front of the Washington Monument? Or wore their wedding dress in front of Lincoln? With our country celebrating its independence tomorrow, I couldn’t wait to share this shoot with you!! Even Honest Abe would agree that Amber makes a BEAUTIFUL bride. Happy Fourth of July!
If you’re interested in a destination for bridals, give me a call today!
The mountains in Utah are one of my favorite places to shoot. It’s pretty obvious why. They are GORGEOUS especially this little spot up Big Cottonwood Canyon at Jordan Pines. Kylie and Dakota looked like they belonged here! From Kylie’s beautiful, earthy bouquet, to Dakota’s floral tie and laid back attitude; the mountains set a perfect stage for these love birds. I especially love his expression that we were able to capture of him seeing his bride, Kylie, for the very first time. Makes me smile every time I see it.
You don’t want to ever forget that look your groom has on his face that first moment he sees his bride. You’ll never regret having that first look captured. Call me today to schedule your own bridal session!
With warmer weather sneaking up, Thanksgiving Point Gardens with all of its GORGEOUS flowers in bloom, are a sought after location for any wedding related early summer shoot. It’s pretty easy to see why! There are flowers EVERYWHERE!!! Everything is in blossom from spring through early summer, and really the whole setting just has romance written all over it! I had a blast capturing Ashley and Tyler here together during their bridal session. They looked like the perfect little wedding cake topper as they kissed under the gazebo. And Tyler’s suit with his pink floral tie fit right in.
Bridals give you the opportunity to take your time together and ensure you get the shots you want. They will give you peace of mind on your wedding day knowing you have one less thing to do or worry about because you’ve already captured the moments together that will mean the most. Why You WANT a Hair and Makeup Artist For Your Wedding
Your big day is around the corner and if you’ve been wondering whether or not to hire a professional hair and makeup artist, I’m here to tell you, YES! You have expectations of your day, right? Like, I don’t know… say, looking your best! Now you may be thinking, I’ve already paid for so many other wedding day services, are you sure I need one? Again, I say, YES! Whether you choose to have one for engagements, bridals, and wedding day, or all of the above, here are a few things to consider in deciding to hire your own. Believe me, you won’t ever regret having a Hair and Makeup Artist (HMUA) there for you on such a big day!
Back to the expectations you have for your day. You’re paying a professional photographer to capture you at your best so why not have a professional make you look your best?! You need to find that someone who has the talent to bring out your natural beauty and keep you looking flawless and radiant on your wedding day. This is a photographers dream! Even the slightest bit of high quality foundation applied by a professional, that sees your natural beauty and then magnifies it, means getting you photo ready in a way that will make your best features pop. Think about getting that close up that could potentially reflect high definition pores, redness, and other imperfections. I mean, I CAN edit you to look fabulous. That is part of what you’re paying your photographer for. I’m just saying, a little makeup can go a long way when it comes to being in front of a camera. Let your wedding day hair and makeup artist do what they do best and let them help you look and feel your best!
We’ve covered the importance of makeup but what about hair? You do your own every day so why would your wedding day be any different? Well, ever woken up to a bad hair day? The last thing you want on your wedding day is a BAD hair day! Think about it. Do you want the added stress of trying to get that last piece of hair to curl when it’s got a mind of it’s own? Don’t even get me started on what I call the frizz halo that occasionally sneaks up as the day goes on. A professional hairstylist will have all the products and know-how in their arsenal of hair tools to get your hair looking it’s best and finishing it in a way that is sure to last all day and even all night long. However, don’t settle for just anyone that can do a “wedding up-do.” You want to find a stylist that will work with you and your ideas while staying true to you. If you never wear your hair up then don’t get talked in to a fancy up do. A good wedding day hair and makeup artist will keep your look natural and in line with you and what you like.
Take Time To Feel Beautiful
Having a flawless and radiant face, and keeping your hair in place doing what it should, is clearly a must for your wedding day and photos but I haven’t mentioned to you my personal favorite of hiring a wedding HMUA; the pampering. We all know that weddings are stressful and there is a seemingly never ending list to get ready. Adding one more thing like doing your own makeup or hair may seem fine but think about how AMAZING it would be to take some time for yourself while you sit and be pampered. You don’t want to show up for any photo session frazzled from rushing through your own makeup and hair routine. Take some time to sit and have the professionals take care of you. I promise you it will help you get relaxed and ready to show your beautiful self off! Like I said, you won’t ever regret hiring a hair and makeup artist for your wedding day or photos. It’s your time of life to look beautiful. You’re ready for that next big step in life so go ahead and show off that beautiful person you are!
Brynne and Joseph took on a very memorable setting for bridals as we trekked up the foothills of the Utah mountains to overlook downtown Salt Lake City and Temple Square (where we captured their first look) and I couldn’t be HAPPIER about how these turned out! I loved their enthusiasm as they ran through the temple grounds like they were on their way to some grand adventure. Which if you consider marriage an adventure, then I think they have a pretty grand one in store for them! Starting a life together just the two of them and committing to be each other’s only for ETERNITY is pretty spectacular! Makes me want to runaway with my sweetheart all over again!
Bridals are THE PERFECT way to bottle up all those feelings you have for each other and save them forever! Schedule your bridals today!
Kjiersten and James have been on the brain all of last week after I shared their engagement shoot on the blog. I just HAD to follow it up with their bridals. You really can’t beat Thanksgiving Point Gardens during spring time! I’m so excited for these two to be starting their forever together!
Schedule your bridals today before my summer schedule fills up!
When it came time for their first look, Madison knew EXACTLY where she wanted it…LAGUNA BEACH! So much so that she decided to fly down to meet up with my travel schedule while in So. Cal! Talk about knowing what you want and going after it…I LOVE me a bride like that! And honestly who could say “no” to a session on the gorgeous sand of Laguna? And guess what? While it is snowing back in Utah, we (meaning me and this rad couple) are out in sunny CA because they get MARRIED today!! I couldn’t be more excited to watch these two walk out of the LA Temple, hand in hand, husband and wife. Madison and Jonah are two of the sweetest people I know and I truly feel so blessed that I have had the opportunity ti get to know them and watch as they start on their journey as a couple. They started out as best friends, which we all know makes the best and strongest marriages. These two without a doubt will do incredible things and I can’t wait to celebrate them today!! Happy Wedding Day!! xoxox
