Spring Pastels

We have all been patiently awaiting the appearance of spring and with that means spring weddings are creeping up on us. With earthy tones, paired with spring pastels, you’ll find the perfect color combo for any upcoming wedding.  The palette of green, pale pink, blush, and peach create a beautiful and natural beauty I hope you’ll LOVE as much as I do.

The Bold

A bold navy suit presents a  contrast and makes a statement among the spring pastels palette  that is perfect for this time of year. Pairing a classic navy suit, with  the pink hues found in all of the floral design plus the added femininity found with this lacey, deep V gown, it is no surprise that adding navy blue to the mix brings the right amount of masculinity to balance the equation. It navy wasn’t strong enough to stand on it’s own, and it is already giving all of the pastel florals that extra pop, the sage greenery also creates a beautiful bold contrast of color. Not to mention, with hints of brown peeking through the greenery it continues to add that much more of an earthy, masculine vibe.

The Cake

If you can’t appreciate how complimentary sage green and pink are then I don’t think we can be friends. Okay, just kidding. Or am I? But really, this cake is screaming spring with it’s pink blossoms and branches sprawling up across the top two tiers of the wedding cake. The bottom green tier creates a bold contrast for the blossoms against a clean white frosted and delicious background. Not to mention mimicking the bride dressed in white with her coordinating spring pastel bouquet.

The Table

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this table setting. The details are on point and the table alone makes a statement, bringing with it the bold deep brown rustic, earthy table and the pastels encircled with greenery.  Each place setting carries the spring theme throughout with simple, yet bold, Bride and Groom place holders, and the romance of candlelight.

Bringing Spring Indoors

I love a good floral design and I love it even more when it comes on paper. The spring floral design included on all of the wedding stationery brings the ideal way  to continue the pastel colors and spring feeling. From the invitation, to the Save the Date cards, map, and RSVP card, it’s in all of the details keeping the theme going and making it consistent and romantic.

Editorial Bridal Inspiration

BBP_5764One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to interact with people. Lets get real here, it doesn’t take a long to realize that I am a people person! Being a wedding photographer and getting to be apart of peoples lives is amazing. My brides are fantastic! And I adore them! But I also love getting to know and word alongside a wedding creative team on the day itself! There are wonderful wedding vendors that not only deliver a great experience to a bride, but they are fun, energetic and have become some of my best friends.

One of those great wedding vendors is Katie Livingston with KL Artistry. This girl is incredibly talented. She makes everyone that sits in her makeup chair feel at ease and like you have been friends for a lifetime. Katie not only did the hair and makeup for this shoot, but she is the girl in the pictures! She is stunning in Gateway Bridals gorgeous lace sheath dress. It has such glamorous old hollywood look with the loose curls falling only on one side. The beautiful spring bouquet was by Blushing Rose Event Floral.

February Inspiration

BBP_8110Every now and again I get to work with other wedding vendors in Utah to create styled shoots that are tailored to our style and needs. There are so many wonderful people I have gotten to know and love to work with from styled shoots. I have found good friends that I now refer my brides to with ease because I have gotten to know them, seen their work and know they will deliver an amazing experience to my #BrookesBrides. In February, when most of my brides were waiting for spring and a little bit of life to come back into all the plants of Utah, I got a moment to put together this shoot! If you ever see a shout out on my Facebook and Instagram for a “model” call, chances are it is for a shoot like this. No, you don’t have to be a model. The only requirement is that you are genuinely in love and aren’t afraid to cuddle and have a great time in front of the camera! I hope you enjoy this little February Inspiration shoot. With blush rose being a great color for the season, we opted for a blush toned dress from Gateway Bridal and rich ruby flowers from Flowers by Adrien.

Citrus Wedding | Inspiration Shoot {Utah Wedding Photographer}

BBP_4444I am a California girl at heart. So when Lucky Day Event Co. started to plan a California styled shoot with a nod to the fresh Orange Groves, my photographer heart jumped for joy.

The whole day had a nod to the classic northern California vibe, we stuck closely to fresh colors, rustic elements that wouldn’t over power the natural details of shooting in the grove.

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but one of the best ways to truly feel like the guest of honor for your own day is to trust some of these details to professionals that can bring your vision to life. It is people like these ones that helped pull this wonderful shoot together! What great work they did and I was thrilled to help photograph it! From the classic cake and cirtus drinks, it;s themed was tied together beautifully for you all to enjoy!

Lucky for us it was picked up and featured on Ruffled wedding blog! So head on over there to read more about it!

Blushing Rose – Inspirational Shoot {Utah Wedding Photographer}

Holy smokes I had to do some serious dusting off when it came to my blog! This poor little thing has been seriously been neglected and pushed to the side after experiencing some technical difficulties after launching my new website.  I didn’t even want to deal with it and frankly I was so looking forward to a break in the “off season”. But that doesn’t mean I have stopped shooting! It’s time to share what I have been up to and show some inspirational sessions that I have done just for ME! Sometimes it’s good just to shoot things for yourself and I am the biggest fan of shooting for you and only you. It allows me to create without feeling the pressure to produce for your clients. I get to hang out with past clients (like the beautiful ones you are about to see!) and I get to create art and take risks! I, of course, am so thankful for past brides (and grooms) who jump at the chance to get back in their dress, get all dolled up and hold on to a GORGEOUS bouquet that I have chosen! Thanks to Blushing Rose Floral for always taking my vision and making them a reality! Each and every bouquet Sarah creates is a masterpiece! So in love with this shoot we did in the dead of winter here in UT. No snow for miles and even though it was a little chilly, the temp. was drastically warmer then most winter days here! LOVED the lighting and the location and of course my bride + groom!!  Continue reading “Blushing Rose – Inspirational Shoot {Utah Wedding Photographer}”

Christmas Inspired Bride {Utah Wedding Photographer}

Shooting for fun never disappoints. Ever. I get to be creative and in control of every aspect that I shoot. I chose the location, the models (which lucky for me were a very beautiful and in love couple of mine from 2014!), I chose the color palette, the flowers and gave the hair and make up artist a general idea of how I would like her to do the beautiful bride’s make up! Everything in this shoot was JUST for me. To think outside of the box, be creative and overall just have fun! When the flowers from Blushing Rose Floral arrived, I was smitten!! Sarah executed my vision for a Christmas inspired bride PERFECTLY! Then, as Brooklyn stepped out of her car, my jaw dropped! Ashley with Sly Beauty did a PHENOMENAL job on hair and make up! I found myself so taken and enamored by Brooklyn’s beauty, I sometimes just stopped, stared and thought, “WOW!!”!! Then there is of course the obvious beauty and chemistry with Brooklyn & Chase! I just ADORE these two and were literally THE perfect couple for what I had in mind! They without a doubt know how to work a camera, so that made my “job” quite easy! We had such a blast and I decided to make a goal right then and there to once a month, in the year 2015 shoot something just for fun and just for me. It is on my list of Resolutions for my business (which will be a whole new post later so stay tuned!!). So with that, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!! Creatively Beautiful | Bridals {Utah Wedding Photographer}

With “wedding season” just about over, I wanted to get out and shoot something for myself. I gathered some of my favorite people and we got creative. I gave Sarah from Blushing Rose Floral a color palette to go with, and she KNOCKED IT OUT!!!! I was so excited to see these little beauties show up on my doorstep!! She has an amazing eye and vision and I loved all the texture to this bouquet. Then mix that with a stunning bride (Cyd) and Katie who is absolutely flawless when it comes to hair and make up and we were bound to have a great time! I tried by best to push myself and find beauty in a place where most people would probably look at me like I was crazy. A parking garage. But really, I LOVE how this all came together. I love putting a polished bride in front of the cool grey cement and letting her take the show. Her dress pops, her flowers add that needed vibrance and really everything about this just makes my creative heart sing. We seriously had SO much fun (and I know Cyd froze and was a total trooper!!) and I love the outcome and I am so grateful to have girlfriends that come over and play dress up!! Cyd, you are gorgeous inside and out and OWNED that parking garage!!  Continue reading “Creatively Beautiful | Bridals {Utah Wedding Photographer}”

Film | Personal Work {Utah Wedding Photographer}

Today on the blog is Part 2 of my first film outing! The Photo Fete seriously put together and incredible mini workshop for first time film users and I seriously learned so much!! Here is the second model Maya. I have noticed as I shoot film I love to be in nice and tight. As I was going through all my scans I realized I was up in her grill a LOT! Ha! So now, I will be challenging myself to get clean and sharp images while taking in the whole scene. I love how film looks and realize I still have some learning to do, but really I have completely caught the film bug and I am in no way complaining about it!!  Continue reading “Film | Personal Work {Utah Wedding Photographer}”

Romance in Autumn | Fall Stylized Shoot {Utah Wedding Photographer}

Rich colors, romance and a beautiful couple all came together to make one heck of an evening! Autumn is one of my favorite seasons, and I was DYING to collaborate with so many amazing vendors to create such an unforgettable styled shoot! Each one of the vendors poured their hearts into this shoot and I am truly so obsessed with how everything came together!! Pulling off a styled shoot is no small task, but I think we all knocked it out of the park with this one!! I cannot thank everyone that came together enough for all their effort and vision to make this little dream of mine a success! I hope you are ready for some serious fall inspiration, because I couldn’t choose just one favorite!! But as you scroll, you will see why. We created MAGIC!!!
