Some times, the universe smiles on you and sends you the perfect people at the most perfect time! Maryn and Jimmy were those people for me over Christmas break! I was already planning on being in CA to shoot Brooke + Bryce’s wedding, so when Maryn contacted me about shooting her Newport Beach Temple wedding just a few days after, the stars aligned and the timing was perfect. What I didn’t plan on, was just how much I would LOVE both of them! They are without a doubt the most welcoming, friendly and loving couple and their families are exactly the same.
Newport Beach Temple
I showed up to the Newport Beach Temple and when Susie (Maryn’s beautiful mother) walked out of the temple, I got a HUGE hug and she goes, “oh my gosh we are just so excited you are here for us today!”. Talk about feeling loved before your job even starts!
The whole day was absolutely perfect, and if you knew the weather in CA leading up to this big day, you would know that we were on pins and needles HOPING the rain would hold off and allow them to at least have their dream outdoor reception. Lucky for us, the sun was shining, and not only was the weather gorgeous, but they were able to have a little time to themselves at the beach in between the temple and the reception too! As important as it was to have their images at the Newport Beach Temple where they “sealed the deal”, I know Maryn was most looking forward to having her pictures with Jimmy at the beach. The size of their smiles, the laughter and the love shared between the two of them was evidence that they were on cloud 9 and I was more than excited that we were able to be there with them to celebrate!
My second shooter and I (which lucky for me was my beautiful and talented mom!) arrived at their reception and our jaws dropped! The twinkle lights, the killer backdrop that they made, the taco truck, the smore pit, was ALL incredible! I couldn’t choose a favorite! Maybe I am bias because I had a taco truck at my own wedding, but DANG that food was delicious!!
Between the carne asada and the guacamole I was in heaven! THEN, we go inside and see all the Carmel apples and it was palette overload! I usually try to eat before receptions, so that I can make sure to focus on photographing people mingling and the bride and groom greeting their guests, but since there was two of us to divide and conquer, I was able to sneak in some food while I worked and I couldn’t be more OK with my decision! 🙂 As the reception heated up, I KNEW they would have such a fun group of friends and guests, and I was NOT disappointed! Their DJ was on point, their first dance was perfection (their smiles and the way Jimmy twirled her made my heart melt!) and then Jimmy busted out a Solo in the middle of the dance party and while his vocal skills are debatable…he made up for it in enthusiasm! I literally have never laughed harder in my entire wedding career! I am pretty sure it was the highlight of the night! I practically lost my voice from laughing and cheering him on! Jimmy, you are the man!!I cannot say enough about these two! I love them and from the moment we met, I knew they would be the people that I would forever be friends with and I cannot wait to see what they accomplish as a team!
XOXO
