Winter Beauty
These two… What can I say about them? From a brother that set them up, to a night of illness that almost kept them from being together, they are meant for each other. I love spending time with couples during bridals and seeing their relationship in action. I could’ve hung out with these two and enjoyed Utah’s winter beauty all day, with their loving stares and Hailey’s great smile, I couldn’t help but laugh right along with them. Kind of felt like I was just another BFF and not the third wheel. LOL! And Nick, he looks great with a bouquet. He was workin’ it!!!
How They Met
Hailey met Nick through her older brother! When Nick left to serve an LDS mission and train in what is called the MTC he was assigned compnanion with Hailey’s brother. For 2 years they served in the same area together and came back at the same time. Hailey then met Nick at the beginngin of their first semester of college at BYU .
Love Story
Leave it to brothers to be the jokesters but in this case it definitely worked out for these two. At first it was that kind of joking attitude about getting Hailey’s brother to pass a good word along to get Nick to ask her out. Then one day, he got Hailey’s number from the brother and all jokes aside, he asked her out!!!
But when the day of their first date came around, Nick had to cancel because got sick. Not two weeks later, Hailey’s cousins, who were all at BYU with her, had planned this big group date to go to the Crater at the Homestead. As fate would have it, Hailey didn’t have anyone to ask, so she asked Nick. She says, “I was terrified because I had never asked a guy out. EVER!!! But he said yes and we went on the date and had the best time ever! And ever since that first date we just never stopped talking to each other and going on dates. We just couldn’t get enough of each other.” Swoon…
Falling in Love
Hailey knew that feeling setting in the night before the semester ended before heading back home to Texas, was love. Her and Nick had seen each other practically almost every day since that first date and she couldn’t imagine leaving for the summer. You know when you think about leaving someone and never want to be without them, that is love. And sure enough, when they had to say goodbye in the parking lot that night Hailey NEVER wanted to leave his arms. She cried (a lot) and knew that she had never felt like this about anyone ever before nor would she ever. So there you have it, that’s the night Hailey realized, without any doubt, that she was head over heels in love with Nick.
The Proposal
You’ve gotta give Nick props for his secrecy and planning so far in advance. He knew that Hailey wanted a surprise and a surprise it was! The week before their engagement they were driving the Alpine Loop looking at all the aspen trees with carvings in them and Hailey remembers how she couldn’t help but mention the tree that they had carved their initials into earlier that summer. She suggested that they hike up to the next weekend to check it out and see what it looked like. Apparently that was all part of his plan! So the next Saturday comes around and hiking they go! They hiked up to the spot and on the way down, Nick brought Hailey over to this place where he had taken her on a surprise picnic date a few weeks earlier. Surpsie, there was a blanket with rose petals on it waiting for them and he knelt down and asked her to marry him (Give me all the heart eye emojis!!!). Everything was perfect from the weather, the fall trees, the ring, the man… everything!!!
What They Love
These two like to go on hikes together and try new foods together. Most of the time it is Nick taking Hailey to try a new food that she hasn’t ever tried so he can see if she is brave enough to try it and then see if she’ll like it.
Looking Forward To
Not having to say goodbye at night anymore or having to share a fridge with 3 other roommates! Now those are things I couldn’t agree more with!!!
