Before we get in to the nitty gritty of why you will want engagement photos taken, let me first introduce you to Chelsey and Kyle. I feel like I can’t go on without first taking a minute to talk about how much these two are in love. Sometimes you get to shoot a couple and the chemistry, romance, and LOVE is so intense it is almost palpable. The presence of their love for each other in their engagement photos is straight up AH-MAZING! This brings me to reason number 1 on why you want your own engagements.
Reason #1 Why You Should Have Engagement Photos Taken
You’re young, you’re in love, and your life is about to change. Why wouldn’t you want to capture these moments? There is nothing else like it that you will ever experience. Before you know it you’ll have littles ruling the roost, be busy with work and life, and be celebrating your first 10 years together before you know it. Trust me when I say, you’ll want these moments captured so you can look back and remember those moments. Those moments of love, laughter, togetherness, companionship, and friendship. This person is your best friend, your confidante, your everything. Capture those feelings and emotions. Remember that saying, “a picture is worth 1,000 words,” I think you get the point.

Location! You get to select a place that reflects something meaningful to the two of you and have it shine center stage. Where is that place the two of you first met? Or that special location that has sentimental meaning for just the two of you? Where did you have your first kiss? Your first date? Your proposal? No pun intended, but are you getting the picture? Capture that location as part of your engagements and have it help you tell the very beginning of your love story together. It will keep that place with you forever as you have these images to look back and remember over many, many years together.

This might be my favorite, only because I have met so many incredible couples and individuals because of my job. Not only that, but I have been blessed to be a part of so many special moments because of this next one. Any guesses? It’s all about choosing a wedding photographer! Yes, choose that wedding photographer first and then book an engagement session with them. Having an engagement session gives you an opportunity to develop a relationship with your photographer before your big day. For many couples this is the first time they are in front of a camera, especially together. NOBODY wants to be caught being uncomfortable in front of the camera on their wedding day! I promise you this one will make a HUGE difference in the outcome of your wedding images. During engagement photos I love to take note of how the two of you interact with each other, and what your individual personalities are. Those little quirks are what will help capture moments on your wedding day that are unique to just the two of you.
