A Romantic Spring Pastel Wedding

The Salt Lake Temple and its grounds known as Temple Square are beautifully romantic in and of itself but add to it spring with it’s trees in bloom and flowers everywhere you look and you’ve got wedding day PARADISE! Ashley and Tyler’s wedding day was as close to perfection as you can get. The pastel colors they chose for their wedding were soft and inviting and created a welcoming and subtle feeling of love and togetherness. I wanted to sit on that velvet sofa and watch the smiles all night long. And who can say they were carted away at the end of their reception in a golf cart?! That’s the way to make an exit!

Spring Garden Engagements

Provo Utah Orchard Engagements

When it comes to engagements, I love a good backdrop that adds some romance and this orchard in Provo Utah did not disappoint. Add Kjiersten and James to the mix and it takes the romance up another notch. I loved watching these two. I couldn’t help but smile. It’s clear that they’ve got it bad for each other. I couldn’t be more excited for them!

Did he just pop the big question?! Well then, congrats! Next up on the wedding to-do list is to give me a call and schedule your engagements!

Beach Engagements

As you will see, Jenna and Joe invited a very special guest to help with their engagement shoot in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. The weather and the sandy landscape was PERFECT (until a crazy storm showed up halfway through their session…more on that later) for these two. Three if you count their fur baby special guest!  Jenna was looking stunning. The colors she chose to wear complimented the landscape in a way that added to the entire ocean vibe.  What else can I say other than, these two look like they belong on the beach!

Sea Isle Beach Weather

Here we are having a great time, when all of a sudden the clouds roll in and things get dark, windy, and scary FAST! We all dart for the car as the water starts coming down in BUCKETS! The whole beach practically empties out as car after car leaves. The three of us stay in hopes that we will be able to wait out the storm and still have enough time and sunlight to actually get to the part of the beach where you can see the water and horizon. Well, good things come to those who wait! Not only did we have gorgeous sunlight for a whole 20 minutes, but we had an empty beach on a summer weekend! We literally had the Sea Isle beach all to ourselves! These guys were such troopers, and while the last 20 minutes were a complete blur, we have photo evidence that these two are MAGIC together no matter what the circumstance! I cannot wait to be by their side when they say “I DO!” today. It’s going to be one for the books!

 

Little Sahara Sand Dunes

The sunset over the sandy hills of the Little Sahara Sand Dunes wasn’t the only thing shining on Bri and Brady’s wedding day. The two of them were both glowing! I guess when you add the excitement of a bridal session turned elopement, that happens. Their wedding was beautiful, intimate and the sandy setting was perfect.  Lucky for me, this is now the second elopement I have been able to be a part of and shoot and let me tell you they DO NOT disappoint!

A Sahara Elopement

The first elopement I shot, I was able to travel to Maui with my BFF Kaitlin and shoot with her on the beach. However, this was one of my very own and when Bri asked if I would be ok with them tying the knot at their “Bridal/First Look” session, I squealed with delight! Elopements aren’t all too common where I live, but holy smokes I am seriously HOOKED! The intimate setting, the promises made true in heart, and the ability to choose just about anywhere to tie the knot, leaves me feeling so incredibly inspired. I hope this won’t be the last time I get to shoot a gorgeous elopement!

Your Destination Wedding

When it comes to planning your destination wedding, you don’t want to miss these 5 must-read ideas that will make planning your perfect day a breeze!  Did any of you just picture yourself standing at your beachside wedding when I said breeze? That tropical reference wasn’t completely unintended. It’s your day and you want it to be a picture-perfect resemblance of what those expectations are floating around in your head. Well, I’m here to help. Follow these 5 tips to make your destination wedding planning run smoothly, in turn, making your destination wedding day exactly what you want it to be.

Location

First up, let’s talk about the location. When selecting a destination make it a place that is meaningful to the two of you or somewhere you have always wanted to go. You want to make it mean something!!!  It will become part of your love story if it isn’t already. It can be a reflection of who you both are and what you love. Let it add to your wedding day while you soak up the experience of having all of your closest loved ones surrounding you in your hand-picked paradise.

Hire Professionals (Photographers/Videographers)

This is a big one in my book. You’ve traveled all this way, the last thing you want is to be stuck with a resort photographer that you don’t love. The location you choose might not always have a photographer/videographer that is going to give you what you want so it’s ABSOLUTELY okay to bring your own photographer along.  You want someone that you are comfortable with that you KNOW will capture you and your day just the way you want to remember it forever.

Guests

Your guests love you enough to join you at your destination so this is a biggie! Be sure to consider your guest traveling time and accommodations in relation to the venue. I always like to say to stay within a 10-minute radius of the venue. You will want all of your friends and family close. The last thing you want to happen is to have them stuck clear across town. Also, keep in mind the time of year when selecting a date for your destination wedding. Keep in mind holidays, school breaks and other events your guests may be faced with in joining you at your destination.

Less is More

First and foremost, a destination wedding is about YOU and the commitment you are making!! Believe me, you don’t need to be worrying about fancy centerpieces or having a fancy ballroom with high floral centerpieces that make a statement. You are the statement!  And the destination is complimenting it. Don’t be afraid to stick with local flowers, fruit, and food. In this Tulum, Mexico destination wedding, pineapples were used for centerpieces which created a complement to the surroundings. The atmosphere stayed consistent to the location with colorful chairs that the venue had on hand. Not to mention, desert florals are easy to buy in the local market and create interest while keeping with the destination being the theme.

Hire a Planner

Here’s another one, you need to trust me on. You need a professional by your side to take care of any issues that happen if and when things go wrong at the last minute. I don’t want you to even lift a finger on your wedding day!!!  If you don’t have a planner that accompanies you to the location then make sure the venue has a killer on-site wedding coordinator.  You want that person by your side to answer questions while you focus on your day!

When it came time for their first look, Madison knew EXACTLY where she wanted it…LAGUNA BEACH! So much so that she decided to fly down to meet up with my travel schedule while in So. Cal! Talk about knowing what you want and going after it…I LOVE me a bride like that! And honestly who could say “no” to a session on the gorgeous sand of Laguna? And guess what? While it is snowing back in Utah, we (meaning me and this rad couple) are out in sunny CA because they get MARRIED today!! I couldn’t be more excited to watch these two walk out of the LA Temple, hand in hand, husband and wife. Madison and Jonah are two of the sweetest people I know and I truly feel so blessed that I have had the opportunity ti get to know them and watch as they start on their journey as a couple. They started out as best friends, which we all know makes the best and strongest marriages. These two without a doubt will do incredible things and I can’t wait to celebrate them today!! Happy Wedding Day!! xoxox

 

Spring Provo City Center Temple Wedding

Maybe I’m still on a lovers getaway high from being in SF with my stud muffin that’s making me see these photos in a new light or maybe Katie and Sean just always looked this AH-MAZING and in love! It was a beautiful spring day at the Provo City Center Temple the day these two started their forever together.  I love how the smiling never stops on wedding days, from the moment the bride and groom see each other to the second they leave the reception, hand in hand. I gotta say, that part of my job sure doesn’t disappoint. With tulips in bloom and blossoms on the trees, all the things were perfection for Katie and Sean’s wedding day. And wait until you see their venue for the reception, Wadley Farms…BEAUTIFUL!!
