Favorite Sweetheart Tables

Utah Wedding Photographer Utah Lake Engagements_0031Over the years of being a wedding photographer, I have seen styles come and go. Reception styles vary from season to season and year to year. But lately I have noticed how Brides have been planning their reception sweetheart table with such care and detail.

In a reception, it is customary to decorate each reception guest table with florals, candles, soft linens, table numbers and colorful decoré. These tables are beautiful and I never leave a wedding without spending careful time to photograph these details. However having a sweetheart table has become more and more popular for Brides and Grooms at their receptions. A sweetheart table is a table set with two place settings for the guests of honor! It is usually decorated a little bit more with sentimental touches. Mr. & Mrs. signage, a little more cuddled together. So today I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite Sweetheart tables to give all of you brides some inspiration on how to set your table a little differently than the rest of your reception centerpieces.

Courtney and Jeff- This wedding was just last a few weekend ago!! So when I was thinking of favorite tables in my mind, it was easy to go back to theirs! The thing I love most about their table is that they took time to decorate the table top AND floor in front of the table. There was florals and glittery silver letters giving your eye and easy flow up to the table. This also makes for a pretty back drop during dancing when the floor is almost always shown.

Chelsey and Kyle-  This glitter and gold table scape was a small resemblance of what the Bride and Groom’s style was for the wedding! The gold linens stole the show which made scene glitter, pop and shine. If you are planning a bold and sparkly details, it is a good idea to go a little more neutral on the linens. If you have neutral colors and florals, it is ok to go a little more bold with the linens and details. Bold details and linens AND florals might take away the focus from the Bride and Groom.  But this was the perfect balance.

Kaitlyn and Jordan- I loved how this sweetheart table was completely reflective of the season. I know fall might seem still far away right now, but it will be here before we know it. When brides style their wedding with bold fall colors to embrace the season it just makes me happy! Notice how this table and gold pear really emphasizes the rich fall themes.

Ella and Trevor- There a few ways that a Bride and incorporate a “vintage” element to their wedding day. These two decided to go a more sentimental route with a handmade arbor from the groom and truly vintage elements. Fabric from Grandparents, antiqued frames, rustic wood elevating platters and DIY projects that they worked on together from Pinterest. It was a tender nod to generations past as the couple starts a generation together.

Tyler and Stephanie-  This was a stunning sweet heart table that was classic and timeliness. They didn’t need an ornate tall floral piece to make it elegant, but rather a delicate garland gave a green focus to the table. It was the little things that made a difference. They shared a couch love seat which made for a little more cozy and romantic moments together. They could snuggle together as they shared their first meal as husband and wife, listened to their family toast to their marriage and celebrated with friends.  When you have such tender details, less is more.
