Gorgeous Mountain Meadow Bridals

I seriously can’t get enough of doing bridals, let alone shooting them with backdrops like this!! These gorgeous mountains never seem to disappoint!!! Sandy and Zak pulled out all the stops, making their bridal session full of their individual personalities along with their love and commitment to each other. I love that we were able to capture Zak’s, “I look good in a suit” expression. And might I add Sandy’s smile is, well, as beautiful as it is full of a love for life!

In a religion class at BYU. We were both late and had to sit in the back (those were the only seats left) and just happened to sit next to each other! Then the teacher had us talk about some questions he’d put up on the board, so then we started talking. I (Sandy) knew the answer to one of the questions no one else did, so Zak said he was impressed and I answered, “Well, I’m kind of a big deal.” Guess that won him over!

Love Story

Zak was rather impressed with Sandy right away. She was pretty, knew her class material, and was wicked easy to talk to. But, Zak didn’t want to seem too eager. As the class days went on he continued to save Sandy a seat, eventually inviting her to lunch. These two acts became habits for the soon to be couple. Finally, after a couple weeks, and much to Sandy’s doing, Zak got Sandy’s number. Class periods, lunches, and dates later, Sandy, upon a bold heartfelt confession of Zak’s liking for her, placed Zak in the friend zone. Zak was heartbroken. After consulting with some friends, Zak gained some great advice, “Own the friend zone. Don’t be the guy who can’t let go…but own it!” So he did…for a solid and very long 3 and half days. In the mean time Sandy, who friend zoned Zak for another man, realized her mistake. After careful consultation from her closest confidants, she decided to end it with the other man and re-ask for Zak’s hand in courtship. There, he quickly gained ground in making their relationship official and the rest is history. Well played Zak. Well played indeed. Friend zone to wife zone.

Falling in Love

With Zak admitting that he fell pretty hard and pretty quickly for Sandy, he adds that he found her to be pretty, smart, personable, and not high maintenance. He admits that being in the friend zone wasn’t easy and lot harder than her expected. Let’s just say that when Sandy realized she didn’t in face want Zak as only a friend, he was SO down! Having those feelings  and adding a couple of weeks of being away from each other during Thanksgiving helped him realize that he loved her. He couldn’t wait to get back to Utah to her. For Sandy it took a little more time to realize it. I think it was there all along because of the facts that she could spend all day with Zak and be excited to see him the next day, or that he is so sweet, and that he balances her out perfectly, she just didn’t see it at first. When Sandy read about a story about a wife in need and on bed rest, her first thought was that if she was ever in a situation like that it was Zak she would want by her side.  After thinking about this, they ventured out on a walk together and she noticed how easy, fun and perfect it was. That was the day she realized that she loved him.

Zak proposed under the stars in a park in Heber, which happens to be Sandy’s hometown and favorite place in the world! It was just the two of them.   No cameras, no other people, no gimmicks…just them, the most important part. And it sounds perfect.

What They Love Most About Each Other

Zak loves how much fun they have together. Whether it’s out on an adventure or cuddling on a couch, it sounds like they’re always laughing and having a good time. He appreciates that they are able to communicate miscommunications instead of arguing or fighting and solve any issues in the moment. Sandy loves how adventurous they both are and how they’re both down to try anything. They definitely both think they are hilarious and I definitely got to witness that!  You can definitely tell that makes their time together full of fun no matter what they are doing. She pointed out that she loves how they balance each other out with their strengths and weaknesses.  They can talk about anything and talk through anything which is an awesome quality to have in any relationship!

What They Love To Do Most Together

They both agreed  on the same things, hikes, cuddling, cooking, and trying new things but Sandy added that really anything is fun with Zak around. 🙂 Groom kisses the bride | Brooke Bakken | Utah Bridal Photographer

Looking Froward To

Zak said that he is  looking forward to not having to say goodnight and goodbye, just goodnight. Doing more stuff together. Learning more about each other. Serving her. Cooking together. Being there for Sandy always and then added cuddling for days.  To quote Sandy, “Oh man, lots of stuff!” I loved here response!! Topping her list is: always coming home and waking up to her best friend. Having TONS of adventures together. Knowing that they’ll always be together (for FOREVER!) and there for each other. Learning more about Zak and serving him. Of course she added the same and said, “Cuddling always!”
