Katrina & Michael’s classic wedding at The Lucy in downtown Philadelphia was what wedding dreams are made of! Theirs was a wedding I will never forget!
I always get asked the SAME question every time I fly back east to shoot a wedding….”Why do they hire someone from Utah, when they can hire someone local?”
Truthfully, I rarely have an answer for them other than, ” I don’t know but I am so grateful they do!” I am SO lucky to travel and see some of the most beautiful wedding venues the wedding industry has to offer!
How We Met
When Katrina messaged me about shooting her wedding I think I screamed with delight! I had already shot her sister’s wedding a few years prior and fell in LOVE with their family. Having Katrina ask me to come back east again and shoot her wedding was the ultimate compliment and I was so flattered. Not only does this family know how to PARTY, but no detail is overlooked and they treat everyone like family!
About the Venue
Katrina and Michael took a leap of faith and booked a venue that had not even been built yet! How incredibly BRAVE is that? The Cescaphe is known for luxury weddings. At the time K & M were looking for a place to get married, The Cescaphe had an up and coming venue in the heart of downtown Philly. Katrina KNEW it was going to be exactly what she was looking for, so they booked and they got to watch and see the progress during their engagement of their dream wedding venue being built before their eyes. Kind of a cool and unique experience if you ask me!
Katrina & Michael’s Classic Wedding at The Lucy
Their day could not have been more perfect! Like I said earlier, Katrina is meticulous and had every detail covered. Even their timeline was absolutely PERFECT! This was the first time I had shot a wedding in downtown Philly and it did NOT disappoint. We used the beautiful buildings and architecture to ensure they had all the “classic” city vibes that they loved so much! The color palette was perfect and the bride’s room where she was getting ready was TO DIE FOR! That floral wall paper fit perfectly with the elegance of the day. Both, a little nervous and unsure about the first look, but it was beautiful and intimate and helped calm both of their nerves before the ceremony began.
A Wedding I Will Never Forget
The ceremony went off without a hitch….or so they thought. Little did they know that their photographer was going to almost eat crap, mid aisle and hear all 200+ guests GASP for air and in embarrassment for me. BUT I didn’t fall….I just bruised my ego a bit 😉 It was without a doubt the MOST embarrassing this to happen to me while shooting a wedding, but I couldn’t help but laugh! Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself because there is nothing else left to do!
But the rest of the night was absolutely INCREDIBLE and I was truly on cloud nine the entire night. Katrina & Michael’s classic wedding at The Lucy was what dreams are made of! Beautiful details, beautiful people and SO MUCH love and support for each other in that room! It was a wedding I will never forget!
