The Davis Family’s Newport Beach session is near and dear to my heart. Their story will remind you of the importance of being in your family photos.
How We Met
I have known Jaime for a little over six years now. She was a bridesmaid in a wedding I shot for her BFF in Oregon and a budding photographer herself! Now, she is a powerhouse BOSS, Photographer, and Mama Bear!
I look forward to shooting her and her family every. single. year! It started out as just her and Ryan, and I was able to shoot a vow renewal for just the two of them (you can see that HERE ). Then, I got to watch as they grew their family and was able to shoot their maternity pictures, too! (You can see those HERE .)
Watching her become a mom has been so dang fun! I knew she would be incredible at it, and Anna Belle could not be more lucky to have two amazing and loving parents to spoil her rotten and guide her through life! They are each passionate about what they do and they truly are wonderful examples of how to chase your dreams!
About the Davis Family’s Session
There is no secret that, before they had kids, these two loved their fur babies just as much as they would love a real baby! They were dog parents long before becoming actual parents. So naturally, the dogs are always worked into family photos at some point.
I had my work cut out for me: a toddler and 2 puppies….heaven help me. You can ask Jaime and I think she would tell you….nothing went according to plan! Anna Belle had her own agenda…and whatever way she went, the dogs went the other way! It was quite the sight! HA! But lucky for me, being that Jaime is a photographer, she stayed calm and put her trust in me! (Talk about PRESSURE!)
As you scroll through these images, I think you will see a wonderful mixture of “real life” and wonderful “framable smiles”. I was super excited to deliver this gallery!
A Heartbreaking Event
On the evening of March 13, 2019, Ryan was involved in a horrific plane crash. A T-28 collided into him and his student (who did not survive) while on the runway at Compton Airport shortly after landing. He sustained burns to 60% of his body, a major laceration to his shoulder blade and upper back likely from the prop and facial fractures.
It made news channels in CA EVERYWHERE. It honestly stopped me in my tracks. How could this be happening?

Why Family Photos Are Important
I am honestly in shock and awe watching Ryan recover. His journey has reminded me of the truth that there is no denying the existence of our loving, Heavenly Father who knows us and hears our prayers. The survival rate for something like this is almost non-existent. Watching Jaime try to juggle being a mom, support her husband and now be the sole provider has been so hard (since we do not live close) and so inspiring. There truly is nothing she cannot do! Wonder woman!!
But this leads me to my next point…TAKE FAMILY PHOTOS!!! Be IN photos with your spouse and kids. Sometimes they are all you can cling to when life throws your whole world upside down!!
