This year, as I have really honed in on my personal health and the heart of my business, the phrase “no regrets” has really stuck with me. So that’s what we are chatting about today, my friends: the beauty in having no regrets as we capture the moments that matter!
If you know me, you know that I am a YOLO kind of gal!
As a full-time business owner and mom of three, there are days I DO NOT want to get out of bed- especially in those prime early morning hours for me to get a solid workout in. Although I have to drag my tail to the gym sometimes, I NEVER regret showing up.
Rachel Hollis is such a great inspiration for me when it comes to this motto (shocker, I know!). She always talks about how we only get to live this life once. In addition, the fitness instructors I have attended classes for have put an importance on the fact that I set my alarm, made it a point to get there despite how I felt about it internally, and then they encourage me to make the most of the workout because I did X, Y, and Z to make it happen!
Kids grow so freaking fast, you guys. And the more you have, the faster time goes. It’s the truth, I swear.
That being said, I LOVE seeing all the pictures we have of the kids- whether it’s me taking them or someone else.
Life happens in between the annual family photo sessions. Am I right or am I right? And I want to capture the everyday moments just as much as I capture those annual milestones.
In a world that is all about convenience and instant gratification, I want to challenge you to be more intentional about getting those high quality images with your big girl camera instead of settling for the convenience of your iPhone.
Now, I know this will not always be the case and your iPhone will indeed come in handy just when you need it, BUT there really is such a difference in quality- especially when it comes to printing them out.
That being said, as someone who has printed a TON of photos of my family, the photos I have placed around my home are such a great visual reminder for me to pick up my camera instead of my phone, when I can.
Friend, it’s not about capturing the perfect picture. It’s about capturing that moment you want to be able to remember forever. The pictures I take now of my kids are WAY better than the pictures I started out taking, but I still LOVE those pictures and wouldn’t trade them for anything!
Because of the invaluable moments within them.
Because they tell my story as a mom and a photographer.
Because they share beautiful glimpses of my life I won’t be able to find elsewhere.
I don’t know about you, but I never want to look back on a moment and regret having not captured it because I was too lazy. These are the moments that matter. Because, YOLO. Ya feel?
So, regardless of whether or not you have a big girl camera, capture the moments that matter. And have no regrets about it!
