Romantic Cherry Blossoms Engagement at the Utah Capitol

Usually by the second week in April, when all the snow has melted away, the weather warms, and Spring is officially underway, the Utah Capitol is surrounded by the most beautiful cherry blossoms. I love the Utah State Capitol as a location for sessions, especially during March ;), but when they bloom, these cherry blossoms give the most romantic backdrop for an engagement session. Due to our ever prolonged state of winter, these romantic cherry blossoms have yet to happen this 2023 season, so keep your eye out for them!

Here’s what you need to know about these romantic cherry blossoms.

There are 433 Yoshino Cherry trees that line the .7 mile Memorial Walkway encircling Capitol Hill. These cherry blossom trees were sent by the Japanese to Utah following World War II as a symbol of friendship and reconciliation. They burst open and only bloom for a couple of weeks, or until a Spring storm blows them off the trees, so if you’re looking to capture a romantic cherry blossom session, then you have to get to them ASAP to catch their fleeting beauty.

And if you do, it is absolutely WORTH it!

A couple of years ago I got the pleasure of capturing Vale and Steph underneath these romantic cherry blossoms and even though I could probably share a million other details, I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves. So scroll through their gallery and then keep your eye on the Utah State Capitol for this year’s stunning blooms.
