Happy Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mommas out there! This special day always causes me to take a pause and reflect on my journey of motherhood thus far.
“Mom” is a title I’ve worn for the last nine years now. Fact: I was never the girl who grew up dreaming of becoming a mom. I did not play with dolls, I did not play house and I was not the girl eager to hold babies. To be honest, when I found out I was pregnant, I was SHOCKED! My husband and I were not trying to get pregnant at the time. I honestly felt a little guilty that I got pregnant so easy while I had dear friends who had been trying for so long with no success. I also was secretly REALLY nervous because of ALL of the above-mentioned characteristics.
Would I be a good mom? Did I have the qualities that would make me a good mom? I did not feel like I was a nurturer. Would being a mom be something that I would have to “work” at? SO MANY QUESTIONS! But I forgot ONE huge thing…I had THE most incredible mother and the world’s greatest example!
The World’s BEST Mom
This Mother’s Day, I want to tell you all about how wonderful my mother truly is!
If you know our family, you KNOW how much everyone LOVES my mother! She is “famous” in HB and honestly, we cannot go anywhere with her that does not turn into a 20-minute conversation. We learned early on to walk home from church because she was just so chatty and makes friends where ever she goes. We learned that a simple “trip to target” meant a 2-hour excursion as she wanders the aisles and without fail “runs into” someone she knows and needs to catch up with! Even a simple trip to the grocery store could land you waiting and waiting for what feels like hours for her to finally pay for her groceries and head home!
You get my point…everyone LOVES Kip! She is warm, thoughtful, friendly, genuine, funny, and so much fun to be around. I can only imagine as she was younger that she was THE life of every party!
While I was nervous to gain the title “MOM”, I also knew I had a not-so-secret weapon. My own mother was the best example of sacrifice, unconditional love, and forgiveness. I was anything but an easy teenager (mom, I will never be able to say I’m sorry enough!!), but I am forever grateful for her unwavering love. Even when it was hard to love me and watch me fall, she would pick me back up and help me try again. She is the definition of amazing and I hope that one day my own kids love ME just as much as I love MY mom!
The World’s BEST Grandma
She now holds the title for World’s BEST Grandma! My kids ADORE this woman! Like really, they would much rather live with her than myself. She is fun and loving, and they all crave her love and attention. They fight over who gets to sleep in her bed when we visit. They fight over who gets to hold the phone when we FaceTime. Basically, there are brawls over my mom because she is loved THAT much. She has a special and unique bond with each of my children and there is nothing she would not do for them. They are truly loved beyond measure and I am so lucky they have yet another example of everything GOOD within my mom!

Momma…I love you beyond words. Thank you for being my rock, my sounding board, my shoulder to cry on and my protector. Thank you for loving me and my children so fiercely. We love you to the moon!! Happy Mother’s Day!!
